Job Purpose The Department of Transport and Public Works, Cape Winelands region is seeking to employ an individual to render maintenance service and repair all road construction plant and vehicles. The incumbent of this position must be reliable. This position is based in Winelands Workshop.
Minimum Requirements Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Diesel Mechanic; A valid code EC1 (or higher) driving licence and PDP.

Key Performance Areas Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all road construction plant and vehicles; Supervise and train Artisan Apprentice; Maintain occupational health and safety standards; Perform administrative duties which include the completion of logs and time-sheets, initiate orders and writing of reports.
Competencies Technical skills including analysis, legal compliance, computer aid applications; Mathematical abilities; Ability to write reports on the diagnoses of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems;Communication (written and verbal) skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape;
Remuneration

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
